As Plato says in his philosophy of ero, by means of their imaginations, humans are able to visualize the perfect idea of the Beautiful as it exists in the heavens. Male readers out there, merely through the after-image [ushiro sugata], you feel you possess a woman. But do you really think that this adequately represents some really fantastic woman? Why do you think that only by means of the after-image youâve captured the real woman?...
There is a beautiful woman, but she was made beautiful through the filter [kami] of the imagination, a beauty that is previously modified [modefuai] by the Idea. All this takes place because ero filmically projects her as an after-image. Therefore, when you look again at the real woman your gaze will pass right through her and youâll be disappointed by reality. Your ero will become scrambled [muchakucha] as you face the real world without the comfort of your imagination. However, this disappointment will fade as ero discovers substitute commodities.
